2 DAYS / 1 NIGHT MOUNT SABYINYO HIKING DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN VOLCANOES REGION (KIGALI → MUSANZE) Arrive in Musanze after a scenic 2.5–3 hour drive from Kigali. This day is focused on preparation and rest to ensure a strong summit attempt the next morning. Upon arrival: •Check-in at your lodge near Volcanoes National Park •Meet your guide for a full trekking briefing •Gear check and preparation for weather conditions •Early relaxation and overnight stay •Overnight is best in the Musanze/Kinigi area to ensure a very early and smooth start the next day. **DAY 2: MOUNT SABYINYO SUMMIT HIKE & RETURN** •Early morning transfer to park headquarters for registration and briefing before starting the hike. # Hike Experience: •Start through lush bamboo forest and volcanic slopes • Gradual transition into steep, muddy terrain •Technical ladder sections and exposed ridges • Controlled ascent with ranger-guided pacing Summit Highlight: •Reach the dramatic peak known as the “Old Man’s Teeth,” where three countries meet—Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. •Weather permitting, you get panoramic views across the Virunga volcanic chain.
